[O02-01] Experience of going from being an ordinary student to earning a Ph. D. degree
★Invited Papers
Keywords:Ph.D, Research life
What do you think of when you hear the word “Ph. D.”? You may hear various words such as cool, serious, or seems to know everything. I entered the Faculty of Science because I liked the experiments that were sometimes conducted in science classes throughout elementary, junior high, and senior high school. However, at the beginning of my university life, I was never conscious of myself as a Ph. D. degree or researcher. I was just an ordinary college student who spent most of my school life enjoying club activities, part-time jobs, and travel as a hobby. However, my feelings gradually changed when I was assigned to a research laboratory to work on my graduation thesis. In this presentation, I will talk about 1. what kind of research life doctoral students and researchers lead, 2. why I decided to enter a Ph. D. program, and 3. my memories of field research (snowy mountains, river headwaters, groundwater sampling in the plains, oceanographic observation, etc.). I will also introduce my current research activities and the research projects I am participating in now that I have completed my Ph. D.
