[O06-P62] Are Sea and Land Breezes Blowing?~Researching Shiranui Wind.~
Keywords:sea and land breeze, specific heat, difference in temperature
I became interested in sea-land winds when I learned that sea-land winds blowing in the Shiranui Sea are one of the important conditions for the occurrence of certain phenomena. Therefore, they decided to investigate the characteristics of winds blowing over the Shiranui Sea and the existence of land and sea breezes, and to verify the principle of the occurrence of land and sea breezes through experiments.
A. "Sea-Land Wind Availability - How the wind blows during the day".
The wind direction and speed data for Matsushima (2011-2020) were summarized as southwest winds during the day and northeast winds mostly during the night, with higher wind speeds during the day and night and slower wind speeds in the mornings and evenings. This is similar to the characteristics of sea and land breezes.
B. "Principles of Sea and Land Breezes"
Comparing actual air temperatures and surface sea water temperatures, there is a temperature difference between land and sea, and the temperature relationship is reversed between day and night. Therefore, the sea and land breeze blow in the Shiranui Sea.
C. "When and how much does the wind blow in the Shiranui Sea?"
We learned that land breezes blow all year round in the Shiranui Sea, that they blow more frequently in winter than in summer, and that land and sea breezes do not always blow even on calm days.
