The notation of the Error of two paleomagnetic directions are considered.
Suppose the distance of the two mean directions is x, and the 95% confidence limits are α1 and α2,the mean distace d of the population and its 95% confidence length δd are given as
d=x+0.083αs2/x
δd=0.80αs √(1-0.021(αs/x)2)
where αs2=α12+α22. The delivation and conparizon with numerical simulations will be presented.
