[U01-01] Uniting the Geosciences Around the World for Actionable, Inclusive, Sustainable Development
★Invited Papers
Keywords:inclusion, solutions, sustainability
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals outline a future where science and society work in concert to build a more sustainable and healthier future around the world. It is not only a matter of ensuring science plays a vital role in rising to the challenges set by 17 goals, but also essential that science itself is co-created across science disciplines and in partnership with communities and decision makers, from the Global North and South. AGU has a strong history of advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the geosciences. AGU’s member-driven programs and initiatives, such as Open Science, Community Science, LANDInG, Bridge, and others showcase just a few models on how to increase inclusion. In addition, AGU partners with organizations, societies, and governments to increase engagement of Earth and space sciences in the Global South.
This presentation will highlight specific opportunities to further inclusion in geoscience as well as how to harness collective energy to contribute to and cooperate with partners to respond to the SDGs.
