[U01-05] Promoting the SDGs with developing countries
★Invited Papers
Keywords:SDGs, developing countries, JpGU
In Japan, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been widely discussed in school education and in the media, and have become familiar to many people. The SDGs succeed the Millennium Development Goals: MDGs, which aim to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, especially in developing countries, and in this sense, developing countries are naturally the main actors in SDGs. Earth and planetary science as a basic science is important and responsible in terms of providing human knowledge to support the foundations of the SDGs. It should be actively promoted to include developing countries. Based on this background, JpGU is trying to promote discussions toward the post-SDGs in cooperation with academic organizations in developing countries.
