[ACG36-11] GOSAT Series and Climate Change Mitigation Policies
キーワード:気候変動、温室効果ガス、パリ協定
Current and planned greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions by member nations of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) are insufficient to keep 1.5 degree temperature target described in the Paris Agreement.
It is important to notify the current status of GHG concentrations and emissions to the world commnunity and conduct open and transparent verifications of national GHG emission reports to UNFCCC using satellite data freely available.
GOSAT Series for greenhouse gas measurement from space consists of three satellites, GOSAT launched in 2009, GOSAT-2 launched in 2018, and GOSAT-GW to be launched in FY2024 and one of important Japanese contributions to international climate change mitigation policies.
In this presentation, after reviewing of GOSAT/GOSAT-2 achievements so far and expectations for GOSAT-GW, how GOSAT series data have been used or will be used in climate change mitigation policies will be discussed.
