[EV04-09] Attributing and predicting climate variability and extreme events

Yukiko Imada1 (1. Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, the University of Tokyo)

The climate system varies and changes due to anthropogenic and natural forcings and internal variability. Attribution, mechanism understanding, and prediction of observed climate changes and extremes promote social activity against climate change and provide a basis for confidence in climate model performance. In this presentation, I will present my work on seasonal to multi-decadal scale predictability and extreme event attribution, including some of my latest results.
