A disaster prevention education app has been developed as one of the disaster prevention education materials. There are a variety of disaster prevention education apps available for children, including game-like apps that make children think about disaster prevention as something familiar to them, and practical apps that allow them to check local hazard maps.From 2014 to 2018, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Geospatial Information Authority of Japan, the Water Management and Land Conservation Bureau, and the Cabinet Office collaborated on a project to select outstanding disaster prevention apps.
These disaster prevention education apps should be created for people in all kinds of environments, and should be designed with universal design in mind. In this study, we will classify existing disaster prevention apps by purpose, examine the pictograms and color schemes of representative apps from a universal design perspective, and present the results.
