[MZZ46-P18] How does a scientific research contributing to a geopark?
Keywords:geopark, local research, research grant,, geosite, geo-history
Small research grants are prepared to facilitate local research in the geopark areas, but researchers apply commonly by latest topics. Considering this expectation discrepancy of geoparks and researchers, we introduce grant-supported local researches in the Muroto and Naeba-sanroku Geoparks.
In the Muroto Geopark, drilling survey was conducted on the Holocene river terraces, sediment core was displayed in the museum and lectures on research result were held to the general public and children. In the Naeba-sanroku Geopark, radiometric dating of andesite showed the same age of sedimentary rocks, revealing a sill-like attitude of andesite. Local researches in the geoparks can suggest a new geosite and set a revised information board.
