[O08-P86] Automatic observation of Visibility and Development of Meteorological observation systems
Keywords:weather, visibility, visibility observation, deep learning
The Astronomy and Meteorology Club of Tachikawa High School has been conducting weather observations for the past 79 years. Visibility observations stopped for 20 years, but in 2019, a senior student analyzed past data and found a relationship between bad visibility, air pollution, and weather. This led to the resumption of regular visual observations, and from 2020 they worked on the development of an automatic visibility observation device and monitoring system. In order to complete the automatic visibility observation system, the Astronomy and Meteorology Club worked on the creation of a new program for automatic visibility detection using deep learning, and also developed a visually operable web data base for the publication of meteorological data. In addition, the club analyzed the visibility from the 1980s to recent years, which had not been studied in previous research, and discussed the temporary decline in visibility in the 1990s and the recent good visibility.
