[SSS08-P10] Matched Filter Detection of Earthquakes near Izu Oshima
We deployed two seismometers at Izu Oshima in September 2023, where active seismicity has been observed for decades. We detected 1051 earthquakes using a matched filter method between September 12 and November 18, while the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) detected 203 events. Both our detection and the JMA catalog showed frequent earthquakes during two periods: September 22–23 and November 2–4. During these periods, we were able to detect small earthquakes below magnitude 0, while the JMA catalog seems complete for events larger than magnitude 1. Extending this preliminary analysis, we will include permanent stations, consider multiple template events, and target longer observation periods. We also need to verify the reason for overestimating magnitudes.
