I served as the Section Chief Editor of the Atmospheric and Hydrospheric Sciences of Progress in Earth and Planetary Science (PEPS) from 2013 to 2018, when PEPS started. I submitted my own co-authored papers to PEPS to enhance the visibility of PEPS. I won the Most accessed paper award and Most cited paper award for three papers: Satoh et al. (2014), Nakajima et al. ( 2017), and Stevens et al. (2019). In parallel, during this period, I served as the Chief Editor of the Journal of the Meteorological Society of Japan, so I contributed to PEPS based on experiences of multiple journals. If interested, one can read my essay about the journal and peer review posted on the Editor's blog at the early years from the start of PEPS: http://pepsjpgu.blogspot.com/2016/02/blog-post_17.html. In this talk, I will share my personal views on my experiences during the first years of PEPS and my expectations and prospects for PEPS in the future.
