As a Joint Usage/Research Centre, the Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research (ISEE), Nagoya University, invites applications for ISEE International Workshops every year with a maximum support of 2 million yen. These ISEE International Workshops are for a small number of people to intensively discuss a focused research topic in one week and to publish the results as a special issue, a review paper, or a book in international journals (https://cicr.isee.nagoya-u.ac.jp/site1/info/workshop. html). From these workshops, the special issues entitled “Ionospheric plasma bubble seeding and development" and "Variability of the Sun and Its Terrestrial Impact - VarSITI - 5-year summary review", and a review paper entitled "Review of the accomplishments of mid-latitude Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) HF radars" (Nishitani et al., PEPS, 2019), have been published in PEPS. In addition, at the CAWSES-II International Symposium held at Nagoya University in 2013, two special issues were published in PEPS (review papers) and Earth Planets and Space (EPS) journal (ordinary research papers). This presentation will introduce these efforts and discuss the collaboration between the PEPS and EPS journals, as important international journals for the dissemination of scientific results from Japan in the field of Earth and planetary sciences.
