Interactive simulations of polar ice sheets using an Earth system model is an important issue for sea level prediction and long-term feedback of the Earth system, including ice-albedo feedback or inflow of ice sheet meltwater into the ocean, and so on. We are developping a module to conduct coupled climate-ice sheet simulations using MIROC4m-LPJ climate model, which is atmosphere-ocean coupled model with dynamic vegetation, and ice sheet model IcIES. We examine the responses of climate and Greenland ice sheet to increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration up to four times of pre-industrial value. We find the effect of ice sheet retreat promoting further mass loss of Greenland ice sheet. We analyze scale and speed of ice sheet retreat, surface mass balances changes in our coupled and uncoupled simulations, as well as simulations by other climate-ice sheet models.
