In our research group, we have produced numerous pictograms and motion graphics to examine the psychological effects of moving disaster prevention educational materials (e.g., JSPS KAKENHI 20K03256, 23K02821). In Noda and Sano (2022), a comparison between live-action and 2D materials, and in Noda and Matsuoka (2024), a comparison between 3D and 2D materials, both suggested that 2D materials impose less psychological burden. Furthermore, in Noda and Takashima (2024), a moving 2D material utilizing lenticular lenses based on pictograms was prototyped. When these disaster prevention materials are displayed as posters and a comparison is made between moving pictograms and conventional static pictograms, it is difficult to eliminate the effects of factors such as the subjects’ movement speed and gaze height. Therefore, in this study, we converted 2 to 5 images created for lenticular displays into GIF animations that can be viewed on digital devices and conducted a questionnaire survey to report on their effectiveness from a cognitive psychology perspective.
