[G03-03] Sediment Disasters in High School Basic Earth Science Textbooks

*Norihito Kawamura1, Toshio Arimichi2 (1.School of Regional Resource Management, Graduate School, University of Hyogo, 2.Sumasyohu High School, Kobe City)

Keywords:sediment disaster, senior high school, Basic Earth Science, textbooks analysis

In order to develop disaster-resilient citizens, knowledge of natural hazards must be acquired in science education. However, can knowledge of sediment disasters be acquired in elementary and secondary education? Kawamura et al. (2023) analyzed the treatment of floods in elementary and junior high school science textbooks and showed examples of debris flow and other landslide disasters. However, they did not analyze textbooks for upper secondary school students. Therefore, we analyzed the coverage of sediment disasters in textbooks using Basic Earth Science in hsenior high schools. The results show that there are differences among textbooks, which will be presented in this presentation.
