1. Introduction
On August 8, 2024, the first Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information (Megaquake Advisory) was issued, raising social issues of preparedness and response. The Real-time Earthquake and Disaster Prevention Information Council (REIC), a non-profit organization, conducted a questionnaire survey of its member companies and organizations regarding the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information (Megaquake Advisory) to understand the responses, efforts, and issues found by private companies and organizations, and to use the results to develop future disaster prevention measures. The survey was conducted to understand the responses, efforts, and issues found by private companies and organizations.

2. Questionnaire Survey on Response to Extra Information
The survey was conducted over a one-week period from October 21 to 28, 2024, and a total of 71 companies and organizations responded. The number of responses was 23. The response rate was 32%.
The questionnaire consisted of the following 12 questions regarding the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information (Megaquake Advisory).
(1) Did you know what the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information was before it was issued?
(2) Did you know the difference between the two types of the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information, such as “Megaquake Alert” and “Megaquake Advisory”?
(3) What measures did you take after the issuance of the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information (Megaquake Advisory) on August 8?
(4) If you answered “no specific response” in the previous question, please explain why.
(5) Who made the decision to respond?
(6) Did your company have a response policy or guideline in advance for the issuance of the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information?
(7) If you answered “yes” to the previous question, what is the general nature of the response policy and guidelines?
(8) Did you prepare a specific BCP prior to the issuance of the August 8 Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information (Megaquake Advisory)?
(9) What kind of preparations and measures do you think your company needs to take in the future?
(10) What information related to the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information do you think would be useful for your future response?
(11) If your company encountered any problems or issues in response to the August 8 Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information (Megaquake Advisory), please describe them in detail.
(12) Please provide any other comments or suggestions you may have.

3. Analysis and Summary of Survey Results
The results of the survey revealed the following.
Many companies and organizations are aware of the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information, but do not know the details.
Companies/organizations that are active in a wide area tend to be more aware of the measures to be taken in advance and how to respond.
The larger the size of the organization, the more the disaster prevention and general affairs department is in charge.
All companies and organizations are aware of the lack of advance countermeasures and responses to the Nankai Trough Earthquake Extra Information.
