[O05-05] Why did Kyoto become a Capital of Japan?

★Invited Papers

Keywords:Kyoto, capital, fan, delta

We discussed the reason why Kyoto became the capital of ancient Japan and had remained the capital for more a thousand years from the geological and topographical points of view and compared with geological setting of the preceding capitals, i.e. Asuka, Ootu, Naniwatu, Shigaraki, Kuni and Nagaoka.
We conclude that Kyoto has a large composite fan system whereas Tokyo locates not on a fan instead on an estuary or delta.
That is the reason why Kyoto became the capital of Japan.
