[O11-P29] Earthquake Prediction by Analyzing Groundwater III

*Manami Wakayama1, Hikari Terashima1 (1.Fukui Prefectual Fujishima High School)

Keywords:Earthquake, Groundwater

Earthquake prediction is one of the most difficult themes in science. Therefore, our senior students decided to focus on the groundwater which contains marine origin ingredients in order to know the movement of underground. And then, they thought that there is a relationship between the chloride ion concentration and earthquake occurrences. In addition to last year’s activity, we decreased the number of places we took groundwater, and increased the sampling time of groundwater to enhance the accuracy of the time. Analyzing the relationship between the chloride ion concentration and earthquakes, we found that there is the trend that the chloride ion concentration rises before earthquakes happen and decreases after them.
