[O11-P56] Reconstruction of paleoenvironment by analysis of cross lamina outcrops located in the Mt. Kurikoma Area Geopark
Keywords:cross lamination, paleocurrent direction, geopark
A very distinctive outcrop with well-developed cross-lamina structures can be observed in the Mt. Kurikoma Area Geopark, located in Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture. However, due to the lack of prior studies on this area, many aspects regarding its origin and depositional environment remain unclear, and its value as a geosite has not yet been fully established.
Therefore, the aim of this study is to reconstruct the origin and depositional environment of this outcrop and to clarify its academic value. The study involves field observations to investigate the dominant paleocurrent direction, sampling and analysis, measurement of the strike and dip of the laminae, and plotting the data on a stereonet.
By analyzing and interpreting these data, we attempt to reconstruct the depositional environment, elucidate the formation history of the area, and promote the appeal of this location as a geosite.
