Depolymerization of lignin, which is contained in lignocellulosic biomass, is attractive as an alternative process of aromatics formation by conventional reforming from oil resources. In previous works, supported Pt catalyst was found to be more active than any other supported metal catalysts for the conversion of lignin to aromatic monomers. In this study, we considered effects of supports and improved the yield using Pt-based catalyst in supercritical water.
