[1E07] Development of Ni-Ir alloy catalyst for hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds

○Masazumi Tamura1 (1. Osaka City University)

Hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds is one of the important reactions in organic synthesis, and the development of effective heterogeneous catalysts is always required. We found that SiO2-supported Ni-Ir alloy was an effective heterogeneous catalyst for hydrogenation of styrene, showing 7-fold higher activity based on the catalyst amount than the monometallic counterpart catalysts such as Ni/SiO2 and Ir/SiO2. Moreover, the catalyst was applicable to the hydrogenation of various styrene derivatives and linear olefins, and also showed higher activity for hydrogenation of pyridine.
