We focused on MOF that shows various properties. We developed various modified Fe-MOFs and investigated the activity for the formic acid (FA) synthesis reaction from CO2 under visible light irradiation and hydrogen production from FA. One approach is the loading of Pd-based alloy nanoparticles. The PdAg nanoparticles supported catalyst showed high activity for both reactions, in which the PdAg nanoparticles functioned as an effective photoexcited electron scavenger in the FA synthesis reaction and active sites in the hydrogen production from FA. The other approach is the substitutions of divalent metal into Fe-cluster. The Mn substitution catalyst shows high activity for FA synthesis reaction, in which the low valent Mn(Ⅱ) site promotes the FA synthesis reaction from CO2.
