While the Minamata Convention came into effect in 2017, the oil industry was considering the introduction of mercury removal plant and an unexpected situation in which crude oil trends could not be predicted occurred due to the sudden corona infection. Therefore, the diversification of crude oil is spurred, and it is necessary to prepare an equipment configuration that can always handle the processing of mercury-containing crude oil. In this report, we examine the distribution of mercury in the refinery for each crude oil, and describe the process of introducing the mercury remover suitable for the refinery, such as selecting the mercury remover and designing the mercury remover.
