New combined catalysts for the dehydrogenative reactions by simply mixing iridium complexes that were developed by Fujita et al. and various solid oxides were developed. For example, a solid catalyst prepared from an iridium complex bearing a bipyridonate ligand and NaY zeolite was reusable and showed an excellent activity with turn over number (TON) over 10,000. The XAFS study suggests the presence of marked interaction between the complex and the surface of the support at very low loading levels.
