Catalytic cracking of n-paraffin over zeolite-Pt/SiO2 (physical mixture) was performed in the presence of hydrogen. Deactivation due to coking was suppressed when the zeolite was dealuminated. It was suggested that the temperature at which cracking started was gradually decreased with increasing the carbon number of substrate. When the zeolite with high acid strength and/or too much acid amount was used as a part of catalyst, excessive cracking occurred to give undesired gas components.
