[Abstract]
[Introduction]
Loss of teeth causes problems in masticatory function and dental harmonization which results in psychological changes and the patient's self-confidence. Aesthetic cases of anterior diastema due to missing posterior teeth are generally corrected by indirect veneers. However, not in all cases indirect veneers can be made due to several factors such as temporomandibular disorder with symptoms pain dan limited opening. Snap on smile is the flexible thermoplastic and adjustable device that needs no preparation or reconstruction of the tooth structure; that is used as an alternative treatment in complex conditions for fast and instant aesthetic as well as cases that require vertical dimension correction of removable denture supports that cannot be treated with indirect veneers.
[Case Summary and Treatment Details]
A 70-year-old female came to RSGM USU with complaints of not being able to chew food properly and an aesthetic problem with her smile. The patient was diagnosed with Kennedy Class I in the lower jaw accompanied by anterior diastema, complete edentulous in the upper jaw, loss of vertical dimension, and experienced TMD pain and difficult to open mouth in long time. Objective of the treatment is carried out by posterior metal framework denture and snap on smile on the anterior teeth of the lower jaw, single complete denture on the upper jaw because the patient cannot have indirect veneer treatment as well as to improve the aesthetics and increase of vertical dimensions as part of the TMD treatment.
[Progress and Discussion]
Snap on smile can be used to increase the success of treatment lower edentulous Kennedy Class I with anterior diastema and upper full edentulous accompanied by TMD .
