[2M4-CC-01] Measurement of Autonomic Nervous System Function during Outdoor Rest: Effect of Membrane Structure Sunshade
In order to prevent spread of COVID-19, government recommends avoiding 3Cs ( Closed spaces with poor ventilation, Crowded places with many people nearby, Close-contact settings) in any place. Although outdoor eating, drinking, and resting have the merit of providing a sense of openness in addition to avoiding the 3Cs, the disadvantages are the ultraviolet rays from the strong sunlight and the discomfort from the glare of the sunlight. The use of membrane parasols may help to avoid such discomfort. However, the effects of membrane parasols on human emotions are not well-known. There are only a few studies using membrane parasols. So we conducted an experiment with and without a membrane parasol for outdoor table. 2 subjects sat at a round table on outdoor terrace and engaged in free dialogue for 10 minutes. The order of the subjects with / without the membrane parasol was randomized for each subject. Subjects measured the ECG R-R interval and acceleration during the experiment using a Holter ECG sensor. And then, Psychomotor vigilance test (PVT) was conducted to measure the level of concentration. We report and discuss the results of these experiments.
