[2M4-CC-02] Privacy of Genome in the era of Massive Medical and Health Database

Whole genome sequencing is rapidly speeding up exceeds pace of Moor’s law. We are approaching to the era ever easier to get full genome sequence in the history. And privacy of whole genome sequence is indeed exceedingly complicated issue.
In this report, we will survey various aspect of the privacy of full genome sequence and light on the central issue in the privacy protection in the era of Genomic medical informatics. In this report, we will first summarize recent situations of Genomic Information and Electronic Health Data (EHR). Firstly, we look at the development of whole genome sequencing. Then we will review the development of National EHR in various countries. Then we will visit regulations in various country on the privacy of medical and health information. We also visit standardization of genomic coding. Lastly, we will review the various method to reduce privacy problem in the processing of genomic information and EHR.
With scope of those circumstances, we are going to confirm difficulty in balance of privacy protection and benefit of genomic information processing. Finally, the objective of this report is provision of well sorted list of requirements for the development of standards, common practices, and technical tools for the foundation of the development of this area.
