[4F2-GS-10m-05] The Ship Allocation System for Marine Taxis in the Setouchi Inland Sea Area

In recent years, the Setouchi Inland Sea Area has been attracting international attention as world-famous art islands. As a result there has been a growing demand for timely, convenient, cost-effective marine transportation to the islands of the Setouchi Inland Sea. One of the options is the marine taxy which is the small, independant, charter boat fleet. The purpose of this research is to increase the reservation granularity of the marine taxy from a per-ship to a per-seat system. This increase will raise the effeciency of the operation for both the customer and the marine taxy operator.
In order to achieve the purpose, we have created a web-based system that enables customers to easily book reservations and taxy operators to accept them all from the convenience of their smart phone. When a customer makes a reservation, the system consolidates multiple reservations that can be carried on a single route into a proposal to the captain. Then a marine taxy operator selects the proposed route and accepts the reservation. This type of shareride enables the operators to take advantage of multiple clients.
