This presentation will discuss the ethical implications of AI/robots that cannot perform their functions in the same way humans are normally expected to be able to do, and that require active human cooperation. The positive and negative effects of such technology on humans will be examined. Examples include "weak robots" etc. Their use has the potential to induce cooperative behavior between humans and machines, facilitate the transition to new technologies, and encourage critical examination of conventional views of humanity. However, there are also concerns regarding the negative impacts, such as issues related to risk and responsibility and issues of motivating people by appealing to their design. To elaborate on the second point, the attractive design, such as a cute appearance, is a motivating factor for using AI/robots in the cases presented. When considering the potential effects of such AI/robots on humans, we should focus on the aspect of high attractiveness.
