[3M5-OS-12b-04] Proposed Tasks for Inter-company Comparisons Using TOPIX100 Annual Securities Reports

This research aims to facilitate inter-company comparisons for tables and text contained in annual securities reports. Annual securities reports are written in the XML-based XBRL language, which is standardised to enable the creation, distribution and reuse of financial information. However, there are challenges in that few data are given taxonomies, it is difficult to find common comparison items and there are many taxonomies unique to the submitter. To overcome these challenges and enable inter-enterprise comparisons, it is necessary to identify the tables to be compared and to retrieve the desired data from these tables. Therefore, this paper proposes a task to find tables containing the desired data in documents and a task to identify cells containing the desired data from the tables, and describes a method for creating datasets for these tasks.
