Keywords:collaborative robots, manual, functional decomposition tree

Our research team has been studying electronic manuals for non-experts using functional decomposition trees with the goal of promoting the use of collaborative robots and reducing their introduction costs. In a previous study, using a collaborative robot that performs palletizing tasks as a motif, the authors were able to create a manual that enables non-experts to perform the introduction task with the same accuracy as that of experts. In this paper, with the goal of enhancing the generality of the method proposed in the previous study, the authors, in cooperation with experts, developed a prototype manual for introducing a collaborative robot that performs welding (welding robot) using the same method as in the previous study. This paper describes the process of developing a prototype manual for a welding robot and compares it with a manual for a collaborative robot that performs palletizing work, which was developed in a previous study. Since there are some essential differences between the palletizing task in the previous study and the welding task in this paper, we discussed these differences with experts who manufacture and sell collaborative robots, established a policy for the creation of the manual, and made the prototype.
