In evacuation scenarios, ‘herding behavior’ can increase the risk of delayed escape. To prevent such situations, it is important to clarify the timing and conditions of herding behavior during evacuation. Despite previous studies on its influence on group evacuation decisions, no clear criteria exist to quantitatively evaluate the extent of herding behavior. Therefore, we aimed to construct a measure to serve as an indicator of herding behavior, treating the decision-making time of evacuees as point process data. In our experiment, to verify the validity of the constructed measure, we assessed each player's decision-making timing in an evacuation simulation game, varying the number of concurrent players. Consequently, we succeeded in developing a measure that can discern substantial differences between game scenarios where herding behavior is less likely to occur and those where it is more likely to occur.
