The Vp/Q discrimination method base on the ratio of peak voltage and integrated charge in PMT output waveform equipped with LaBr3:Ce scintillator was developed aiming at alpha-gamma discrimination. We found that the Vp/Q value is equivalent of a scintillation decay time with a high resolution using Geant4 Monte Carlo code. It is possible to discriminate scintillators, which have different decay times, in common readout using the Vp/Q discrimination, and the technique is applied for the depth-of-interaction (DOI) PET detector. Feasibility study on the DOI detector based on the Vp/Q discrimination was carried out using Geant4. In this result, It is found that the Vp/Q discrimination method can be applied for the multi-layer DOI detector.
