[15p-1G-7] Development of Piceno[4,3-b:9,10-b’]dithiophene (PiDT) Derivatives and Their Application to Organic Field-Effect Transistors

Previously, we have reported the synthesis of phenanthro[1,2-b:8,7-b’]dithiophene (PDT) and alkylated derivatives through cross-coupling reaction and sequential epoxidation/Lewis-acid-catalyzed Friedel-Crafts-type intramolecular cycloaromatization. Herein, we report the synthesis and OFET characteristics of piceno[4,3-b:9,10-b’]dithiophene (PiDT) derivatives by using 2,7-dibromophenanthrene in 3 steps.
