[15p-PB1-5] Tuning the photovoltaic properties and carrier transport of PbS bulk heterojunction quantum dot solar cells by tailoring the device architecture

The efficiency of PbS quantum dot solar cells (QDSCs) has been rapidly increased from below 3 to 9.9% in last years.1 The important improvements have mainly been achieved via designing the device architecture and interface/surface chemistry. To further improve the efficiency, a better understanding of the factors that limit their performance is imperative. In this work, we engineer the band alignment of the quantum dot layers via the use of sort order of different size QDs (2.7, 3.7, 5.5nm). We found that photogenerated carrier transport in the QD layers and the photovoltaic properties of the heterojunction ZnO/PbS solar cells depended greatly on the device architecture.
