Keywords:phosphors

In recent years, white light emitting diode (WLED) has been attracting more and more attention because of its high efficiency, energy-saving, and environment-friendly as a lighting source . In general, phosphor-conversion is one of the primary methods to generate WLED, in which system phosphor plays a key role in generating white light. Ca-a-SiAlON:Eu2+ is one of the potential candidates of yellow phosphors because of its high external quantum efficiency and smaller thermal quenching.
Nanoparticles-dispersed solution is very useful in various fields such as the particle functionalization in biological applications and WLED. However, it is usually difficult to obtain the solution which highly crystalline ceramic nanoparticles are dispersed in, because the high temperature process needed to obtain the highly crystalline ceramics could make the nanoparticles agglomeration. Laser ablation in liquid is one of promising methods to obtain the nanoparticles-dispersed solution. Several kinds of highly crystalline nanoparticles-dispersed solution were obtained by laser ablation in liquid.
In this study, Nanosized Ca-a-SiAlON:Eu2+ phosphors were synthesized by laser ablation in DI water and the properties such as particle morphology and luminescence were investigated in detail.
