[13a-C302-6] [JSAP-OSA Joint Symposia 2016 Invited Talk] Fabrication of Planar Metamaterials for Transmission and Absorption Control

Keywords:metamaterials

Metamaterials consisting of sub-wavelength unit structures are promising new class of artificial optical materials realized by microfabrication technologies. By the interaction of incident electromagnetic waves with unique electromagnetic modes of metamaterials, innovative optical characteristics breaking through traditional optics have been reported. Metamaterials will be a key technology to realize the electromagnetic wave control on demand. Planar metamaterials have practical advantages compared with three-dimensional (3D) metamaterials because arbitrary 2D patterns can be easily formed on a substrate by CMOS technologies. In this symposium, some of planar metamaterials fabricated by my research group are reviewed.
