Keywords:spinel oxide, fluorescence, transition metal oxide

The substitution of Co2+ makes ZnAl2O4 with spinel structure being fluorescence material. Interestingly, this fluorescence phenomena are observed for the excitation of visible light with the energy lower than the bandgap. We investigated this visible light fluorescence for the sample series of (Zn1-xCox)Al2O4 and (Mg1-xCox)Al2O4. The, crystallographic and spectroscopic characteristics of these sample series will be reported in order to clarify.
