△ [13p-B12-2] A study of the response to the heavy ions of silicon semiconductor detector with PHITS code.
Keywords:PHITS
We have been investigating the physical and chemical properties of the superheavy elements (SHEs), which are the elements with atomic number Z>104, using a gas-filled recoil ion separator (GARIS) installed at the RIKEN Linear Accelerator (RILAC) facility. The detection system of the GARIS consists of two sets of time-of-flight (TOF) detectors with micro-channel plates (MCPs) and a silicon semiconductor detector box (Si box). The Si-box is used to measure the energy, position, and time information on evaporation residues (ERs) and alpha particle or fission fragment originating the from ERs and the daughters. In order to evaluate the characteristics of the Si-box, we investigated the detector response to the alpha particle and fission fragment by a computer simulation using the particle and heavy ion transport code system (PHITS). The results were also compared with those obtained by the stopping and range of ions in matter (SRIM) code.
