[13p-B2-7] Quantum mechanical treatment of traveling light in an absorptive medium

Kyo Inoue1 (1.Osaka Univ.)

Keywords:traveling light, quantum mechanics, absorptive medium

It is well known that propgation loss affects quantum noise of light. Conventionally, a beam splitter model has been used to analyze quantum noise of traveling light in an absorptive medium. However, this model is phenomenologically employed and its origin is not clear. This paper presents quantum mechanical treatement of traveling light in an absoprtive medium, based on the Heisenberg equation.
