[14a-A34-7] Investigation on time-dependent changes in thin-film photovoltaic modules due to outdoor exposure
Keywords:solar cells, PV modules, CIGS
The performance of PV modules deteriorates due to outdoor exposure. Once a year, the exposed modules were removed and measured under standard test condition using a solar simulator. The output values of PV modules were measured indoors and normalized to nominal values. In CIGS PV modules, the normalized maximum power (PMAX) differs by type. The output power of CdTe PV modules is significantly reduced after outdoor exposure for three years. These results help in determining the characteristics of time-dependent changes in PMAX for PV modules due to outdoor exposure. We will investigate time-dependent changes for CIGS and CdTe PV modules due to outdoor exposure, focusing on particular degradation factors, to develop an accurate power generation evaluation method.
