Bundles of all-dielectric, tube-leaky optical fibers are proposed and developed for endoscopic infrared-thermal imaging. Borosilicate thin bundled fibers of 90-cm long with pixel size less than 80 µm are fabricated by glass drawing technique. The transmission loss of fiber is optimized for delivery of mid-infrared light around 3-4 µm wavelength by carefully controlling the glass wall thickness of each pixels and thermal imaging using the bundled fiber is performed by using an infrared camera.
