In order to keep the cyclic contract/relax motions in the heart, mechano-electric coupling plays an important role likely controlled by stretch-activated channels. To inspect the coupling, the response to mechanical stimuli on cardiac cell aggregates in a dish has been experimentally observed. The stimulus can generate a contract/relax motion locally and generate action potential propagation.
