It is necessary for medicines and disposable equipments to provide endotoxin-free products in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. However, the endotoxin test using limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) takes over 30 minutes at 37 degrees centigrade. In this study, we developed a fast detection method of endotoxin using a waveguide-mode structure. Using this method, we detected 0.1EU/ml endotoxin in 10 minutes incubation at room temperature.
