[15p-A24-6] Solar Fuel Synthesis on Chalcopyrite Materials Based Photocathodes

Application of chalcogenides having chalcopyrite structure such as Cu(In,Ga)Se₂ (CIGS) for photoelectrochemical water splitting is studied. CIGS photocathode with surface modifications showed hydrogen evolution from water with half cell solar-to-hydrogen conversion efficiency of 8.4%. In the presentation, increased driving force of hydrogen evolution reactions by alloying with ZnSe and direct synthesis of a chemical hydride as a hydrogen carrier will be discussed in addition to above.
