[15p-B13-5] Observation of Domain Motion in Organic Ferroelectric Thin Films by Field Modulation Imaging Technique
Keywords:organic ferroelectrics, observation of ferroelectric domain motion, domain observation technique of ferroelectrics
Proton-transfer type organic ferroelectrics whose polarization is switched by proton transfer in hydrogen bonds are expected to be key materials for low voltage driving devices because they have much smaller coercive electric field than polymer organic ferroelectrics. However, their device application have been scarcely studied because fabrication of single-crystal thin films is difficult, and because the measurement method for dynamics of the polarization domain motion in wide area has not been established. In this study, we fabricated single-crystal [Hdppz][Hca] thin films lie over some electrodes, and developed the noncontact method for visualizing the polarization domains between electrodes with area image sensors. The obtained domain structure corresponded to that obtained by PFM (Piezo-response Force Microscopy). Since the domain structure can be measured in wider area and at shorter time than PFM, this method is appropriate to the analysis of the dynamics of domain motion.
