Nanowire-quantum dot lasers have been recently attracted much attention as an ultra-small, highly efficient coherent light source. We have so far demonstrated optically-pumped lasing oscillation in free-standing GaAs nanowire-quantum dot lasers. In this presentation, we report on improvement of lasing threshold in the free-standing nanowires-quantum dot lasers by studying the numerical simulation of the reflectivity at the DBR-nanowire interface with various NW diameters and number of DBR pairs.
