[19p-W541-13] Recent view of CdTe solar cells

Tamotsu Okamoto1 (1.NIT, Kisarazu Coll.)

Keywords:CdTe solar cells,CdTe,II-VI compounds

CdTe is an attractive material to produce highly efficient and low-cost thin-film solar cells, because it has a direct band gap of approximately 1.5 eV, and because large-area, high-quality polycrystalline CdTe films can be prepared by simple and easy methods. The annual production of CdTe PV modules reached approximately 1.8 GW. In this presentation, I will introduce recent developments in the CdTe solar cells.
